Silhouette happy

A quick card for Paper Crafts April challenge with silhouettes and cameos. Instead of using my silhouettes and cameo stamps and stickers, I decided to use negative die cut and create a colorful silhouette bird family, inspired by this picture on Pinterest.

The nestled bird die is from Poppy Stamp.  I die cut the eclipse tape and used the negative as a mask to ink the silhouette in bright colors.  Wish I had the heartfelt mix stamp set from Wplus9 to stamp the cute lines for the birds to perch.  Necessity is the mother of creativity.  I picked out a plate from my kitchen cupboard and drew the lines with a black precision pen.

It is also entered into Simon Says Stamp challenge: anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by, happy Friday!

Sending You Sunshine

Today's card is for two challenges - Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: watercolor butterfly and Lily Pad Virginia's View challenge #4.

These airy watercolor butterflies are so pretty against the white background. I had several different ideas until I saw the inspiration picture of Virginia's challenge. The sheer texture of the poppy really grabbed my eye and reminded me of one of Virginia's card using coffee filter.  The flowers she created have the same watercolor effect and transparency.  That's what I wanted my butterflies be.

So I got my coffee filter and started to work.  I inked the coffee filter with distress ink pad randomly, spritzed, and watched magic happen. Half hour later, it was ready to die cut. You can always use your heat tool to speed up the process.  I just happen to have enough stuff to tidy up after kids' bedtime.

It was really difficult to balance my proclivity for decorating my card with a ton of butterflies, but not saturating my entire card with this motif. The stitch on the top left corner of my card was to reflect the decorative stitches from the dress.

It is also entered into Simon Says Stamp challenge: anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by, almost Friday!

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

It's the 25th of the month which means a lot of inspirations using PTI stuff.  The theme for April blog hop is inspiration challenge with the following picture.

There are so many inspirations on the fun colorful stacks of fabrics.  I decided to go with the floral and polka dots pattern.

I stamped and created the stripe, floral, and polka dot fabric patterns.  Then cut them into banners of different size and layered.  That big "happy" from Pretty Peony adds the perfect pattern to this card.  The color and patterns on this picture screams a mother's day card to me.

Did you notice the matching muslin bag? It fits an A2 card or a small gift. I used Fresh ink on my card and matching color Memento dye ink on muslin.  Here is the bag itself.

Embellish Chevron Color Trends Challenge

The reason I love the challenges at Embellish blog is the theme of a trend and the four color palette. Of course the design team is top notch.  I have to admit that using four colors is hard for me.  But the projects from the DT are always so inspirational and trendy.

Chevron is one of my favorite pattern and I have to play. I wanted to keep the card as one layer.  I used the widest chevron from the PTI chevron background and stamped the bottom half of the card. The frame and the sentiment are from PTI anniversary set Pretty Peony.  You may wonder where the purple color is?  It is the purple pearl in the center of the rolled rose.

I had a few productive days in term of paper crafting. This is my second post of the day.  But don't look at my house.

Thanks for visiting.

Supplies:
cardstock: PTI select white,

Tuesday Trigger: Happy Happy Joy Joy

Here is the trigger picture for the Tuesday Trigger challenge at Moxie Fab World.  Orla  Kiely designs are my favorite. I love the simplicity and elegance of the design.  I have a board on Pinterest just for Orla Kiely patterns.  I recently saw a grey color pleated dress Kate Middleton wore that designed by Orla Kiely and LOVE it.

There are multiple patterns on this trigger picture. I decided to go with the color combo of the whole picture - orange, brown, and yellow, and used one pattern for my card, I used the stamp set from My cute stamps and stamped the background on yellow cardstock.  I layered the brown cardstock strip to create the same feel of the layered boxes.

CASE Study Challenge #84

It is already April.  It definitely does not feel like spring here.  It has been so wet and grey.  I need this bright colored card to bring me some sort of spring feel.

But it also marks the last CASE study challenge with March Muse Laura Bassen.  I really enjoyed CASE study challenges this month.  This is her fabulous card to case.

Striking is the word I would use to describe this card (and all her cards).  Love the contrast of light grey, white and black.  Love the trio negative dies nested in the mat stack die.

For my take, I used similar color scheme - bright pink, soft stone, white and black; and trio dies - Amuse butterfly dies.  Except I used positive dies and partial negative die.  The die cuts were not nested together either.  Sentiment is from my new favorite set - Papertrey Ink script sentiments.
