Celebrate in Style

It is time for another the Play Date Cafe challenge. This week it is black and white, with just one color of choice, and just a splash.  It sounds fun.

PTI polka dot basic was stamped first, then I used rock and roll technique stamped flower.  Sentiment from PTI think big #5 was stamped on vellum and heat embossed.  A little yellow embroidery floss, yellow button, punched border to finish the card.

I used colors from current CR84FN #34

Just a note

This card is inspired by Kim Kesti's sketch over at Skipping Stone Designs Blog along with the beautiful picture from For your inspiration

Love Skipping stone stamps. I don't own any but have a long wish list.  I'm not sure whether it is OK to enter the challenge using other stamps.

Beautiful architecture from For your inspiration shaped kind of like a seashell.  I used colors of blue sky and orange lights.

Amuse seashell was stamped three times across, colored with brilliance pearlescent sky blue, and embellished with glitter.  I don't think I've ever seen blue seashell though.

It also entered into City Crafter Challenge #66: It's a shore thing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill color card stock, PTI white card stock
Stamp: Amuse Avian notes, seashells
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, brilliance pearlescent sky blue
Other: glitter, rhinestone sticker, blending tips Pin It

A bright birthday

I made this card last night and did not get a chance to post.  It is a gorgeous color combo at the current play date cafe challenge.  But I really struggled with the color combo, even though both orange and purple are my favorite colors.

I want to focus the attention on the big birthday sentiment. Flourish and graphic flower were stamped with Memento lulu lavender, and silhouette birds were stamped with Memento grape jelly on white card stock.  Three buttons of various orange color were threaded on orange baker's twine to embellish.

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill color card stock, PTI white card stock
Stamp: Amuse birthday greetings, Avian notes, ornate elements, clever girls
Ink: Ranger spiced marmalade, Memento lulu lavender, grape jelly
Other: PTI edge die, twinery baker's twine, Hero Arts buttons

Sending you sunshine

This cute coat is the inspiration picture for the current Moxie Fab world Tuesday Trigger challenge: perty and flirty.

The bright yellow color says sunshine to me.  I took the pink color from the trigger picture background and made a 4-1/2  inch square card base.  Graphic sunflower was stamped on light yellow card stock.  A black rhinestone was place on the dot of letter "i" to resemble the black buttons and add some balance to the bright colored card.  A piece of yellow ribbon was tucked between the two layers to finish the card.

It also entered into Wee  Memories #62:  Clean and Simple.

Hi there, shipmate

I love the inspiration picture and theme of Embellish nautical color trends challenge because I love water - lake, river, ocean and falls.

Love and Chocolate

I went to Amuse warehouse sale on weekend and picked up a punch of stamps. Thanks, Amy for letting me know about the sale.  And best part was that I met Amy at Amuse store.

It colors my world

Happy Monday!  I am sharing two cards today - first a reject, then a card for celebration.

I started card making a few months ago.  Since then I found this amazing community of card makers.  I have become an avid reader of online card making blogs. I feel so privileged to be part of this inspiring, welcoming, encouraging, and vibrant community!  Of course, I found Paper Crafts magazine too.  When I first read the last submission call for Jan/Feb 2012 issue a few weeks ago, I thought perhaps I might make a card worthy of submission after couple of years.  Yet, during the interim,  there were many post in my Google Reader about people musing, sharing, and creating publishable works, that this enthusiasm rekindled my fasination for creating one too. I broke through my trepidations and inertia, brought out my drawing board, amassed my tools, and worked through the silence of the deep night to produce my candiates. In total, over the 4th of July weekend, I made five cards, submitted four--and to my utter amazement and joy, was informed that one of my cards was accepted.  Yippee!!!  I tried hard not to scream too loud when I got the happy mail last Thursday while I was at work. What an honor!

The art of card making has formed a new set of lens that I now view my world with-- I notice more colors and patterns from everyday life that I did not see before.  I find inspirations everywhere.  The flowers on the street I walk everyday are so gorgeous and vibrant.  The books I read to my kids a million times served as an inspiration for a fun card that I recently made for my son's birthday.  I now see the objects from my sons' eyes--anew and with a sense of wonder.  There are beautiful things everywhere. Crafting colors my world.

This simple wedding card is one of the three rejects.  I like it and want to share it here.

Next card is the one I made for Moxie Fab World Stamp it! Cards week challenge.

I stamped one of the small stamps from PTI Mehnadi Medallion repeatedly with seven different ink on a stripe of white card stock, and embellished with matching color rhinestone sticker.  Sentiment was stamped on pattern paper.  It is a card for myself to celebrate the journey of last three months of paper crafting.

Paper: Bazill card stock, PTI kraft and white,

Wedding cake

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge picture is a card by Tina Fussel. She is so talented and creative.  Her card is simple but elegant, modern yet retro.  For my card,  besides incorporating doily in an unusual way - as a cake pan cover, I also try to keep the card with same style.  The white wedding cake is decorated with borders punched from light pink card stock. Three layers of cake is popped up with foam tape of different thickness. The card is also entered into Moxie Fab world challenge - beautiful borders.

My inspiration came from this photo on Pinterest.

Friends are the best gifts

TGIF!  Both my husband and I have the day off, he took boys out.  So I got to have fun with my papers and stamps.  Here is the result.  I am sending the card to my best friend in graduate school, who came visit us two weeks ago.

I rotated the Card Patterns Challenge sketch #122 to the left, and used CR84FN challenge #33 colors.

The pattern paper on the left panel was created using the cuttent Make it Monday technique.  I used two shades of pink to stamp the flower - the darker shade for the center of the flower and lighter pink for the pedals.  It is more obvious on some flowers.  I should have used different colors to make it more noticeable.  I really like the technique and would definitely use it again and again.  It also entered into Simon Says Stamp Challenge - A stich in time.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper: Bazill card stock, PTI kraft
